TFC aims to combat misinformation in the digital age, improve public information literacy, and safeguard the trust principles essential for democratic operations.
Taiwan FactCheck Center is a non-profit organization. To maintain the neutrality and independence of our fact-checking work, and to safeguard the credibility required for verifying public affairs information, we have refused donations from political parties and politicians since our establishment in 2018. We also do not accept advertising revenue.
Fact-checking requires significant resources, including hiring professional journalists, monitoring information in real-time, collecting and researching data, interviewing experts, and more. Each step demands human and financial resources, and we are racing against rapidly spreading rumors under immense time pressure.
Looking ahead to 2025, with the likelihood that Meta will terminate its third-party fact-checking program, we will need to secure new sources of funding to maintain regular operations. We aim to strengthen our connection with domestic society, secure sponsorship from local businesses, and enhance our small-scale donation mechanism to further engage readers.
We believe that “only by seeing the truth can we build a better Taiwan.” — We continue to work towards improving Taiwan’s information ecosystem and news quality, enabling more people to develop the ability to discern truth from falsehood. By correcting misinformation, providing accurate information, and offering complete context, we aim to provide a factual foundation for public discussions and debates on social issues, helping the public make informed decisions.
We hope you can contribute and support us through donations. Regardless of the amount, whether a one-time donation or regular sponsorship, your contribution will be an important help for us to continue our pursuit of truth and the defense of facts.
