Who We Are

TFC aims to combat misinformation in the digital age, improve public information literacy, and safeguard the trust principles essential for democratic operations.

Taiwan FactCheck Center (TFC), co-founded in April 2018 by the Taiwan Media Watch Foundation and the Association for Quality Journalism, started publishing reports on July 31, 2018, aiming to combat misinformation in the digital age, improve public information literacy, and safeguard the trust principles essential for democratic operations.

It became the first organization in the Chinese-speaking and East Asian region to receive International Fact-Checking Network (IFCN) accreditation in November 2018. In 2019, TFC joined Facebook’s Third-Party Fact-Checking Program to reduce the spread of false information.

By the end of 2020, the TFC transitioned into the “Taiwan FactCheck Foundation,” registering in New Taipei City, with a board overseeing its operations. In late 2021, with support from Google.org, TFC expanded its educational efforts to enhance media literacy.
